Eating out with friends, having lunch meetings at work, or attending parties can wreak havoc on your healthy eating habits. If weight loss is your objective, your friends and co-workers should understand and support your efforts. However, that is not always the case. You may feel it is necessary to give in to avoid their disapproval.

You have to focus on your needs. You have to think about yourself and love yourself. When someone offers you an alcoholic beverage at a party, politely say no. If co-workers invite you out for a drink after work, go and enjoy their camaraderie, but be the designated driver and you won't have to drink. Alcoholic beverages may taste good and some feel they help them to relax, but they are filled with empty calories.

If ever one is tempted to go off their weight loss program, it is at a party that celebrates any occasion, such as a birthday party, or a wedding. When you are offered a slice of cake, it is difficult to say no. Refuse politely or take the cake and place it on a table to "eat" later.

Not all the food at parties or at lunch will necessarily be bad for you. Most have salads and dips with fresh vegetables. Eat the salad and the fresh vegetables. Drink plenty of water and you will feel full until you are able to leave and have a healthy meal.

Do not forget to eat if you have not had a proper meal. Your body still needs the fuel to function properly. Eat a healthy meal at your first opportunity. Do not go hungry for hours on end. You will end up eating an unhealthy meal.

It is important that you be responsible to yourself and make sure you stay focused on your goal of eating healthy.
