The Journey Back to a Healthy Life

Living a useful and abundant life, free of disease and sadness is what we all strive for. The older we get, the more we want to live. We want to be able to enjoy what we have achieved and we want to make plans for our retirement.

What we forget as we grow older is that what we do affects our life. If we take care of our body from our teens through adulthood and maturity, we have the opportunity to make future plans.

Many of us stray. And, for whatever reason we try to get back on the right path, we falter. Our self-image has suffered. The challenges of every day life put pressure on us both on and off the job. When this stress starts to overwhelm us, we lose our self-confidence. We start to feel bad. And pretty soon, our negative thoughts affect all of our interactions and relationships with other people. We feel as though we are falling into a black hole. Everything seems impossible. Negative thoughs fill our waking hours. We have sleepless nights. We want to stop the cycle but we don't know how.

It is not easy to get back on the right path to a healthy life. Thoughts are very powerful. Negative thoughts keep us in a cycle of stress and low self-esteem.

It is not easy coping with these feelings alone. If you have a friend you trust and can confide in, talk to them. Listen to what they have to say. Ask Journey Back to a Healthy Lifequestions and be prepared for an honest answer. Open your heart and your mind. Constructive criticism can help you.

To be able to love others, you must first love yourself. To start your journey, you must take the time to understand yourself and then to improve yourself. Accept yourself as you are. Don't compare yourself to others. With acceptance comes happiness and contentment. Your new feelings of self-worth will be reflected in your personal life and in your interactions with your co-workers.

For some of us to break this cycle, we have to seek professional help. Some of us can start by taking back control of our lives through self-help programs. The first step is to recognize what is causing our stress. If you can take this first step you can take action and start the journey back.

The journey to self improvement is not easy. You have to stop blaming yourself for not being what someone else perceives you to be. Deal with your insecurities. When you stop and deal with them, you are on the road to a more healthful and vibrant you.
